Sorry guys, but at this time a mac version is just not possible. We considered going multiplatform with JAVA, but getting JAVA to acceptable performance levels is a very difficult if not impossible. A native mac version is not out of the question, but the numbers aren’t there yet.

How much longer do we have to wait? I'm really eager to get Bintube to work on my MAC mini so I can play video on the fly while downloading. :)

Can we start a OSX-branch development fund? Maybe something on the home page, where users can commit to pre-pay for an OSX release?

        Thanks!

I paid for the Windows client and would GLADLY pay $100 -> $150 for the Mac version. I own a PC just for BinTube. I would love to get the last PC in my life outta here! Plus it adds a bad stigma to my theater having a PC in there.

Wine supports Microsoft's redistributable .NET 1 and 2 with a gold support rating... Between that and Mono, how much do you have to rewrite?

Try NZBVortex on MAC. This makes the job with a bintube account well. So you can use the Bintube-Servers on MAC. Cheers.

What about DLNA streaming? That way any media center (game console or Linux box) could receive the movie.

Our subscribers only pay for Usenet access.
$10.99 per month for Unilimited access with over 730 days retention (and growing) is already a very very good offer. On top of that all our users get access to our Usenent search engine, including MAC users.

So even If you cannot run BinTube software, our offer is still better than anything else out there.

If you can't offer the software for the Mac users, offer a subscription without software at a discount. Open to Mac or Windows users. You get just Usenet access, no software.

You could try charging more for the mac version, if it's really such a pain to develop. I paid for the windows client, and I would gladly pay more for a mac version.

BinTube to installs using CrossOver 9, after installing core fonts, .Net 2, and VLC for Windows.

However, it crashes on launch. I sent the crash data to you, IP 24.17.221.103.

Wow, a lot of Mac haters in the room, it's like heroin guys, just try some ;)

Anyway, everyone keeps saying that we should just boot up VMWare, but VMWare really kills performance for both the Windows and Mac side. Even on my fairly new Macbook, with 2 gigs of RAM, I get a lot of frame skipping.

Why not try using WINE or Mono, I would think that since VLan is doing the video decoding, the code can't be that exotic...

        Thanks guys!

Isn't there a Program called parallel for mac that lets you run windows programs? I don't know if it would work or not.

So, 'admin', your comment system doesn't have an indication for 'rejected' under suggestions. I see lots of other 'accepted, planned, etc' indications on other comments, but no outright 'rejected' - just your cute little winky smiley ;)
is the the equivalent of 'rejected' or a precious way of saying STFU? If you have no plans to properly support the MacOS, please let us know and we'll move on. it -is- the #1 requested feature with 94+ votes.

Windows is just to risky to use - especially with Usenet downloads. Too many viruses, and far too brittle and error prone. MacOS is more secure, has a far faster file system/search engine, and in general, is a more advanced OS, especially with the multiple media types found on the Usenet. It's been many, many years since MS has really updated Windows, after all.

You can run a virtual PC (several versions available) from within the MacOS without the need to reboot. :)

I use Win7 on my desktop, but have a MacBook Pro for travels - where I can run virtual Windows when I need to. (OR boot in windows (using bootcamp) for heavier windows use)
