We’ve started work on this. We’d appreciate it if supporters of this feature elaborated on how exatly this should work. Don’t just say do it like this or that newsreader, but tell us exactly how you want it.

Please make sure you update to the latest version of BinTube Usenet Reader before commenting.

      Thanks.

I think this could be a great feature to the program. But on the other hand, BinTube probably needs to worry they don't create a all-in-one does-it-all program... that could result in legal issues.

        Good Idea Will.
Escovan, regardless of how many downloads you have going on at the same time, extraction only happens one file at a time. If you check CPU usage and Disk IO you will notice that there is no difference between 1 download and 10 downloads.

@admin: (ofcourse) you're right; I spent some more time testing and tuning my hard-disk-stripe-set and now it's super fast. Sorry I didn't test it on another machine, but it would be hard to do, since I have only 1 license. :+) Thanx for explaining though :)

I Totally agree with this one, I have 4 harddisks (RAID-0) crunching as hard as they can but they do a better/faster job if bintube would just allow me to fetch & extract them one-by-one. I can imagine that on slower machines with only 1 standard harddisk this clogs up the whole system.

The only way to prevent crashes 100% of the time is to disable auto-playback. When VLC crashes it unfortunately brings down the whole app and there is no reliable way to tell for sure if something is going to crash VLC.

To reduce the chance of an ISO playback bringing down the program delete or rename the extension of the following VLC plugin:

          “C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\plugins\libdvdnav_plugin.dll”

          or

          “C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\plugins\libdvdnav_plugin.dll”

We’ve also addressed the invalid sile size problem and the fix will be available in version 2.8.6

          Cheers.

Thanx for the adequate respons, cause I really didn't like the bugs that slipt into the current version. All of a sudden many files seem to have the filesize problem and that in turn causes playback to mess up or completely fail. For now I could fall back to grabbit or something, but I just want my paid for usenet client to work properly as you might understand.
Offtopic: I'm very pleased with this uservoice/feedback system, more simple and efficient than a fullscale bugtrack system would be in this project and for this audience.

How many of you need this, and do you think it’s worth addidng, given the complexity it will add to the config settings?

              EscovanEscovan commented  ·

You could just make a "Save this as Preset" button for the setting, and then store like, I dunno, upto 10 server presets? And in the main GUI for server settings a simple "Load Preset $Servername ($x)" - where $x is a number only added if more than 1 presets on the same server are stored - , it really doesn't have to confuse the GUI. People with only 1 server / preset, just use the same window as is now. Just 2 buttons will be added there. A save and a Load button (maybe with dropdown selection for Load or a popup new window, whatever looks better). I know this requires some under the hood programming of storing server settings ... But to the end user, it could be only a small diffrence in interface BUT with much added functionality :) (Take a look at Grabbit and NewsLeecher etc.)
